We’re excited that you’re considering Achieve Detroit Academy for your educational journey! If you have any questions about the admissions or enrollment process, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help and guide you every step of the way.
Admission Standards
In order to qualify, students must be between the ages of 15 and 22 (up to 26 for special education), live in Michigan, and meet at least one of the following criteria:
- No longer attending school
- At risk of dropping out (e.g., chronically absent, behind on credits, behavior challenges, or life circumstances that make attending school regularly difficult)
- Past cohort
- Pregnant and/or parenting
- Suspended or expelled
- Referred by a court
Students with an IEP are eligible for enrollment until the age of 26.
Michigan students’ residency, age, and evidence of custody (if applicable) must be verified through the collection of appropriate documentation before enrollment approval. One document proving Michigan residency will be collected and must contain the address or service address provided as the physical address during enrollment and must be valid and current. Student addresses will be verified annually.
Students denied admission to Achieve Detroit Academy may appeal. Students who wish to appeal the denial decision must inform the Achieve Detroit Academy principal or designee in writing via email.
Students with Exceptional Educational Needs
Achieve Detroit will support students with IEPs by offering tailored direct support services that meet each student’s unique needs. Our special education team will evaluate both current and past services to identify the most suitable supports for each student, ensuring all records remain compliant. Achieve Detroit staff will ensure that all necessary accommodations are provided for students, both in their course work and during state testing periods. Achieve Detroit will adopt a collaborative approach, bringing together special education professionals and each student’s Student Success Coordinator to ensure student success in both coursework and beyond high school graduation.
Enrollment Capacity
Achieve Detroit Academy is a virtual school and has no enrollment capacity limitations; therefore, no enrollment lottery is required. In the event that an enrollment capacity is determined and established, the Achieve Detroit Academy leadership will implement accordingly and notify students and parents in a timely manner.
